Welcome to the website of Sacred Heart Academy! We are a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade Catholic school located in Mount Pleasant, and we are committed to the mission of Jesus Christ. Our focus is on developing the whole child in mind, body and spirit, so that each child will fulfill God’s purpose.
We have been a Catholic school since 1889 and are very proud of our Catholic heritage, our strong academics, our family atmosphere, our diversity in culture, economics, and beliefs, and our proven results. We welcome all faiths at Sacred Heart Academy. Our students excel both in and out of the classroom. The faculty at Sacred Heart is committed to doing what is best for all of our students and they are dedicated to the individual success of each student.
Our students attend weekly mass and special prayer services throughout the school year. Each student also participates in a Catholic religion class each day. We are proud of our 1:1 Chromebook initiative in grades 7 through 12 and our state-of-the-art science lab. These were both provided through the very generous support of our donors. We offer latchkey services to our students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
Whether you are one of our old friends or are new to Sacred Heart, we welcome you! If you have any questions, would like more information or would like to set up an appointment with our director of admissions, please contact us at 989-772-1457. Come and see what makes Sacred Heart Academy special!
Yours Truly,

Principal, Sacred Heart Academy
Sacred Heart Academy, a Catholic school founded in 1889, is committed to the mission of Jesus Christ. With our families and faith community, we provide a balanced curriculum to strengthen mind, body, and spirit so each student fulfills God's purpose.
For more than a century, Sacred Heart Academy has delivered an education rooted in the very best Catholic tradition. This extraordinary combination of faith, community, and tradition provides an unparalleled foundation for the future. The Academy engages students in grades Pre-K through 12th in a culturally diverse educational experience of the highest quality. The well-rounded curriculum offers rigorous academics, service learning, competitive athletics, award-winning arts, and a comprehensive extracurricular program within a nurturing Christ-centered learning environment. SHA students are inspired to achieve their full potential, open their minds to new possibilities, and prepared to excel in college and in life.
Sacred Heart Academy is proud of the Catholic Christian atmosphere provided for our students by our staff, parish, and families. We are blessed to be able to weave the teachings of Jesus Christ and strong values into all academic areas of the curriculum. Our students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in service to others by working with classmates and younger students, and supporting our community through such activities as providing food to the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, Jump Rope for Heart, the St. Jude Math-a-thon, Christmas Outreach and Community Compassion Network Food Truck.
For more than a century, Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) has delivered an education rooted in the very best Catholic tradition, providing exceptional academic instruction while promoting a strong commitment to faith and civic engagement.
We provide a solid academic foundation with high expectations for all students. We further provide opportunities for children to develop their gifts and talents through arts and humanities courses, including art, music, physical education, computer studies, band and American Sign language.
SHA’s well-rounded college preparatory curriculum is founded on a solid academic core interwoven with strong spiritual and character development and enriched with extracurricular offerings. Students are encouraged and challenged to achieve their full potential as individuals. Rigorous academics begin right from the start. These high expectations are balanced by a nurturing and dedicated staff that supports each student throughout their SHA experience. Small classes ensure faculty have essential one-to-one time with students. Our academic advisor helps students choose the path best suited for their abilities, and prepares them for the academic and emotional rigor of college life. The result of this time-tested formula is well documented — year after year SHA students exceed local and state performances on standardized tests and nearly 100 percent of each graduating class attend a college or university. SHA graduates are prepared to excel both in college and in life, ready to step into the world as leaders of the next generation.
There are many opportunities for extracurricular activities for our elementary students both during and after school including: science fair, literacy nights, spelling bee, STEM activities and using musical talents to enhance our liturgy.
For students in grades 7-12, Sacred Heart’s well-rounded comprehensive curriculum is enriched with competitive athletics, award-winning arts, service learning, religious instruction and a variety of extracurricular offerings that develop the whole child in mind, body and spirit. Here students are not just a number; nor are they lost in a crowd. Each student is accepted and encouraged to join in and participate. SHA students benefit from an exceptional level of support and a wide array of opportunities to discover their passions, develop their talents and find a place to lead. Spiritual retreats and a commitment to service learning connect students with their community and the world at large. SHA Students graduate with the confidence to lead, and the desire to make a difference.
