A brief history of Our Lady of Lake Huron School. - Our Lady of Lake Huron at the dedication ceremony in 1885. In 1912, plans were started for a new church. According to early records, the original building was damaged by a tornado in 1896, and repairs were made. And the congregation was growing. The new church was completed in 1917 and dedicated on July 13th. With the new church built and dedicated, the parishioners turned their attention to the need for a parish school. The parish was growing rapidly with young families from Ruth and Parisville.
To commemorate National Teacher Appreciation Day on May 7, the Catholic School Council Alumni Committee talked to 5 Catholic school alumni who are now teaching at Nouvel Catholic Central High School and Elementary. When asked what attracted them to teach at a Catholic high school, here’s what we learned:
Patricia (Adamcik) Middleton attended St. Brigid's Elementary in Midland, MI, and graduated from Regina High School in Midland, MI, in 1971. Hers was the last graduating class from Regina High, which closed that year.
Mary is the kind of person who loves doing sweet things, surprising people, and having a good laugh, so she couldn’t wait for her friend to see what she had left on her front porch. Mary had been wanting to do this for a long time.
