The Office of Catholic Schools and eight schools in the Diocese of Saginaw received disbursements from six grants totaling more than $111,000 from funds administered by the Catholic Community Foundation of Mid-Michigan.
At the third annual Back to School Mass at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, Catholic school alumni, students, families and supporters thanked God for the gift of Catholic education.
Fifth and sixth graders from four of our Catholic schools took a step out of the classroom and into the great Michigan outdoors, enjoying an unforgettable three-day retreat at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Camp and Retreat Center in Brighton. The retreat gave students from All Saints Catholic, Auburn Area Catholic, St. Joseph the Worker and St. Mary’s Schools the opportunity to meet new friends, foster community and grow in faith and teamwork.

St. Brigid is poised to become the first school in the Diocese of Saginaw with a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level III Atrium. Students in the fourth grade and younger for the 2024-25 academic year will experience all three levels of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) during their time at St. Brigid Catholic School.
Diocese of Saginaw Catholic school educators attended the annual Michigan Association of Non-public Schools School Law Seminar at the Michigan Catholic Conference in Lansing on June 14. The seminar is designed to help administrators navigate educational law and learn about the latest legal developments.

Thank you to everyone who contacted their legislators regarding the school safety and mandate reimbursement funding! On May 1, the House Appropriations passed HB 5503 which includes $18 million in the general fund for nonpublic schools to participate in the school safety funding. Additionally, the House mirrored the Senate K-12 budget proposal by including $1 million to reimburse non-public schools for state-mandated health and safety protocols.
As Catholic school students bring their elementary and/or middle school years to a close, they gathered at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption in Saginaw to celebrate the Elementary and Middle School Baccalaureate Mass with Bishop Robert Gruss on April 26.
