Congratulations to the dozens of talented artists who entered the True, Good and Beautiful Art Contest presented by the Offices of Catholic Schools, Faith Formation and Youth and Young Adult Ministry! The judges were amazed at the thoughtful and creative artworks submitted in response to the theme, “What does the Eucharist mean to you?”
Over the next few weeks, spring sports will be entering their playoff season, and we're taking a moment to reflect on some of the accomplishments of our Catholic school student athletes from the winter sports season. Congratulations to all our student athletes!
A brief history of Our Lady of Lake Huron School. - Our Lady of Lake Huron at the dedication ceremony in 1885. In 1912, plans were started for a new church. According to early records, the original building was damaged by a tornado in 1896, and repairs were made. And the congregation was growing. The new church was completed in 1917 and dedicated on July 13th. With the new church built and dedicated, the parishioners turned their attention to the need for a parish school. The parish was growing rapidly with young families from Ruth and Parisville.
Thank you to everyone who contacted their legislators regarding the school safety and mandate reimbursement funding! On May 1, the House Appropriations passed HB 5503 which includes $18 million in the general fund for nonpublic schools to participate in the school safety funding. Additionally, the House mirrored the Senate K-12 budget proposal by including $1 million to reimburse non-public schools for state-mandated health and safety protocols.
