Our Catholic Schools:

Part of the Our Catholic Schools: Centered in Christ, Committed to Excellence initiative
One of the most important decisions any parent can make is where to send their child to school. Today, the Diocese of Saginaw’s Office of Catholic Schools is pleased to announce the launch of a new website, greatlakesbaycatholicschools.com, to help families discover what a Christ-centered education could mean for their child.
“High test scores, caring teachers and a strong curriculum are all important factors in choosing a school,” said Cormac Lynn, superintendent of schools. “But a Catholic school education offers something more —an emphasis on moral and spiritual growth, as well as academic achievement.”
The new website is the latest in a series of efforts to strengthen and grow Catholic schools within the Diocese of Saginaw, and part of the Our Catholic Schools: Centered in Christ, Committed to Excellence initiative announced by Bishop Gruss in April 2022.
“Our Church, our culture and our world need living models of faith today, disciples who are formed with the mind and heart of Christ, who are educated and well-rounded in our Catholic faith tradition,” Bishop Gruss said.
Identifying Catholic schools as a priority of his ministry, Bishop Gruss expanded the diocesan Office of Catholic Schools last year, adding two new positions to focus on Catholic identity and curriculum and marketing and admissions.
The new website, greatlakesbaycatholicschools.com, is one way of helping Catholic schools across the diocese to share their story by increasing their online visibility and ability to communicate with parents across the Great Lakes Bay region.
“It is our hope that families who are curious about a Catholic school education will visit this site to learn about what makes our schools so special and then connect them with the school that is right for them,” said Danielle McGrew Tenbusch, marketing and admissions coordinator. “This new website is more than a one-stop-shop for prospective families to learn about Catholic schools in the Diocese— it also demonstrates the Diocese’s commitment to Catholic education and each of our Catholic schools.”
The website includes general information, news and a school listing for families to easily research the school(s) closest to them. Each of our Catholic schools offers excellent academics, small class sizes, a safe, disciplined and focused environment where students are taught to be respectful and compassionate. They learn to live as servant leaders with meaningful service opportunities and are offered a rich variety of extracurriculars.
“It is my hope and dream that any student in our Diocese who wants a Catholic school education should have one, because as I have said before, ‘I am convinced our Catholic schools remain the optimal setting for educating and forming disciples of Jesus Christ,’” Bishop Gruss said.
Our Catholic schools are places where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed and lived each day. See what a difference a Catholic school education can make in your child’s life.
