Our Catholic Schools:
Centered in Christ, Committed to Excellence.
Founded in 1868, Catholic schools in the Diocese of Saginaw are dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience focused on spiritual and academic growth. With a rigorous curriculum and high learning standards, it is no surprise that our average student exceeds the national average on standardized testing at all grade levels. In addition, 100% of our high school graduates pursue higher education, military or skilled trades paths.
A student enrolled in our Catholic schools can expect a competitive, STREAM-focused (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Math) education. Curriculum is based on our Catholic identity and rooted in Christian values. Smaller class sizes allow for teachers to provide individualized education, working with the students to achieve their fullest potential.
Each of our schools is accredited through the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools. Every grade level offers a formal, faith based curriculum and theology instruction. Each school offers multiple specials, such as foreign language, art, music and technology. Some offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, LEGO Robotics and other opportunities for hands-on learning.
Our three high schools offer AP (Advanced Placement), honors and dual enrollment classes for college credit to help prepare graduates for post-secondary education with an academic advantage.
In addition to excellence in academics, our Catholic schools emphasize the education of the whole person. Students have the opportunity to attend Mass regularly and pray in their schools daily. Students are also encouraged to give back to their school, parish and communities through group and individual service opportunities. All graduates meet or exceed the minimum service hours needed to graduate, which varies by school, and a number of graduates each year volunteer 200+ hours over their high school careers.
Two schools in the Diocese of Saginaw are members of the Institute of Catholic Liberal Education (ICLE). This vision of education is based in the rich heritage of classical Catholic education, rooted in the liberal arts and sciences.
St. Elizabeth Area Catholic School in Reese and St. Brigid Catholic School in Midland are transitioning to an ICLE curriculum over the next three years for all grades. Learn more about ICLE on their website.
